"Did you ever stop to think, and forget to start again?" AA Milne
We think too much but it is sterile thought; thinking about what others say rather than exploring our own ideas.
Meditative thought is like a meandering river whose journey quietens the mind. In the stillness of reflection, thoughts slow to a trickle. At this point we are thinking. As Milne observes, when we stop to truly reflect, we can forget to start thinking 'about' the mundane things which preoccupy us. That is, to return to the cacophony of second-hand thought; a roar of competing voices of others. Meditative thought brings us into the silence of our own unique voice.
Take time out to think today.
